Purse
A spending tracker that works entirely on your phone. No account, no cloud, no ads.
Your money, on your device
Purse records what you earn and spend, adds it up, and keeps every figure on the phone it was typed into. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to sign in to.
Budgets that warn you before you pass them, not after. Reports that say where the month actually went. Debts in both directions, savings goals, and the bills that repeat every month posting themselves on the day.
The balance counts money you actually have. Borrowing does not make you richer, so borrowed money is recorded and listed but never added to it; paying it back takes from it. Money set aside for a goal comes off, because it is already spoken for.
Purse has no server to send anything to. It makes exactly one network request in its whole life, and only when you press Send on the feedback form. The full privacy policy is below, and it is short.
Privacy policy
Purse is a finance tracker with no account, no server and no analytics. Everything you enter stays on your device. This page says exactly what it touches, and why.
The short version
Purse does not collect, transmit or store your financial information anywhere except on this device. There is no sign-up, no profile and no cloud sync. Nobody — including us — can see your transactions.
The app makes exactly one network request in its entire life, and only when you press Send on the feedback form. That request carries what you typed and nothing about your money.
What Purse stores, and where
Your transactions, debts, categories, budgets, savings goals and recurring entries are kept in a database inside the app's own private storage on this device. Android's app sandbox keeps that file unreadable to other apps, and on a phone with a screen lock it sits on encrypted storage.
Receipt photos you attach are copied into the same private storage and downscaled. The original in your gallery is not touched, moved or read again.
Your settings — theme, currency, the name for the greeting, whether a PIN is set — are stored the same way. If you set a PIN, the PIN itself is never stored: only a salted SHA-256 hash of it, which cannot be turned back into the number.
Automatic cloud backup is switched off for this app. Android would otherwise copy the database into your Google account, which would contradict everything above. Backups are something you make by hand, to a file and a place you choose.
Uninstalling Purse deletes all of it. There is no copy anywhere else, which is also why the backup in More › Backup & restore matters.
What Purse does not do
No account, no login, no email address required to use the app.
No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no third-party SDKs for tracking or attribution.
No analytics or crash reporting. We do not know how often you open Purse, what you spend, or that you exist.
No connection to your bank, no card details, no payment processing. Purse is a notebook, not a banking app.
No location, contacts, camera, microphone, storage or accessibility permissions are requested.
No notification except the reminders you set yourself, day by day, on the thing being reminded about. Described below.
Feedback you send us
When you voluntarily submit feedback, a bug report or a feature request through the app, we receive the text you typed, the type of report, your email address if you chose to enter one, the app version, and your device model and Android version.
This is stored in a private database (Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore, operated by Google LLC) that only the developer can read, and is used solely to improve the app and, if you gave an email, to reply to you. It is not shared with anyone else and is not used for advertising.
No financial data is attached to a feedback message. Your transactions, balances, debts and receipts are never included.
It is kept until the report is resolved or until you ask for it to be removed, whichever comes first. You can ask for it to be deleted at any time by sending a message from More › Send feedback — say which report you mean and it will be deleted.
Backup files you create
A backup is a plain JSON file written to wherever you tell Android to put it. Purse never uploads it, and never reads it again unless you pick it yourself in the restore screen.
It is not encrypted. That is a deliberate trade: an encrypted backup needs a password, and a password you forget turns your financial history into a file nobody can ever open. Treat the file as you would a printed bank statement. Receipt photos are not included.
If you choose to store a backup in a cloud service — Drive, OneDrive, anything else — that service's own privacy policy applies to the copy you put there. That is your choice and outside this app.
Third-party services
Firebase (Google LLC) — stores voluntarily submitted feedback. It receives nothing unless you press Send on the feedback form.
Google Play (Google LLC) — Purse asks the Play Store app already on your device whether a newer version is available, and occasionally whether to show Google's own rating card. That exchange happens between Google's software on your device; Purse hands it nothing about you, and it only applies to copies installed from Google Play.
Permissions
Internet. Used for one thing: sending the feedback form. Purse fetches nothing and sends nothing on its own.
Biometrics. Only if you switch on biometric unlock. The check is done by Android; Purse is told yes or no and never sees your fingerprint or face data.
Notifications. Only if you set a reminder, and asked for at that moment rather than when you first open the app. It is used for one kind of message: a reminder about a bill, debt or goal you picked a day for. Reminders are generated on your device from your own entries — nothing is sent to us and nothing arrives from a server. Purse sends no marketing, no re-engagement nudges and no notification of any other kind. Amounts are marked private so Android hides them on the lock screen, and with privacy mode on they are left out of the text entirely.
Receipt photos are chosen through Android's own photo picker, which hands back exactly the one image you selected. Purse has no permission to read your gallery and cannot see anything else in it.
Children
Purse is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone except what is typed into the feedback form by the person sending it.
Changes
If a future version reads, stores or sends anything not described here, this page changes in that same version and the date at the top moves.
Contact
Questions about this policy, and requests to delete feedback you have sent, go through More › Send feedback in the app. Every message is read by the developer.
Terms of use
These are the terms on which Purse is offered. They are short because the app is: it is a private record of money you tell it about, and nothing more.
What Purse is
Purse is a tool for writing down what you earn and spend, and for adding it up. The figures in it are the ones you enter.
It is not connected to any bank, card or payment service, it does not move money, and it cannot. Nothing you do in Purse has any effect outside this app.
Not financial advice
Purse shows you arithmetic on your own numbers — totals, percentages, charts. That is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from somebody qualified to give it. Decisions you make after looking at it are your own.
Your data is your responsibility
Because everything is stored on your device and nowhere else, there is no copy for us to restore. If the device is lost, damaged, reset, or the app is uninstalled, the data goes with it.
The export in More › Backup & restore exists for exactly this. Using it is up to you, and we cannot recover anything for you if you do not.
Using it
You may use Purse on any device you are entitled to use, for any lawful purpose. You may not try to extract its code in order to pass it off as your own, or use it to interfere with another app or with your device's security.
No warranty
Purse is provided as is. Real care has gone into the arithmetic, and it is offered without warranty of any kind; its author is not liable for loss or damage arising from its use, to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under law that cannot be limited.
Feedback and suggestions
Anything you send through the feedback form — a bug report, a feature request, a thought — may be used freely to improve Purse, without any obligation to you. Sending it does not give you a claim on whatever is built as a result, and does not oblige us to build it.
Privacy
How Purse handles information is in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms. The short version: it collects nothing on its own, and the only thing it sends is feedback you choose to send.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and without limiting any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
Changes
These terms may change with a new version of the app. The date at the top is the date of the version you are reading. Continuing to use Purse after an update means accepting the terms that ship with it.

Questions about these terms go through More › Send feedback in the app. Every message is read by the developer.
